Your video featured in an artwork?
Maarten Baas invites audiences to participate in the making of a new video work. The work will be seen in Malva’s opening exhibition Hide and Seek. Send us a video of streaming water that you’ve filmed, and you could be featured in an artwork!
The video should be:
– Of streaming natural water (waterfall, river, or a stream), see example images
– Steady: place your phone/camera in a stable position or use a tripod
– At least 1 minute long, maximum 10 minutes
– Preferably in horizontal orientation (landscape mode), but portrait orientated videos are also welcomed
– No filters, special effects, or modifications, just neutral footage of streaming water
– Most file formats are accepted: MP4, MPEG, MPE, MPG (MPEG-1, MPEG-2), M2V (DVD-compliant MPEG-2), MTS (AVCHD), MOV, FLV, AVI
EXAMPLE IMAGES
The video should be of natural streaming water, filmed quite close: a detail of falling water without surroundings or a detail of water streaming around a stone.
The video should not be a full picture of a waterfall with mountains and surroundings.
The video must be made by you, and you must have copyright to it. You agree to give Malva and the artist the right to use the video by sending it to us. The video can be old or new and the streaming water shown can be from anywhere in the world. It’d be fantastic if we received videos of Finnish waterfalls to be included in the artwork!
Malva and the artist will make the final decision of which videos will be featured – it may not be possible to include all videos. Send your video of a waterfall to us at malvamuseo@lahti.fi by 4th of March 2022.
