The Stairs of Knowledge and Art

Väinö Komu

2009

Bronze

At the centenary celebrations of Tiirismaa School in 2009, Väinö Komu’s sculpture The Stairs of Knowledge and Art, mounted on the end wall of the building, was unveiled. The school building was demolished in 2019 and the sculpture now adorns the façade of the Paavola Campus. The bronze sculpture depicts two vertical, narrow staircases, the ends of which have sculptural protrusions, one at the bottom and three at the top. The upper part of the sculpture has fewer steps.
