Teerenpeli mural

Laura Lehtinen

2019

Mural

The Teerenpeli mural was designed by artist and illustrator Laura Lehtinen for the Teerenpeli Group. It was unveiled in autumn 2019. Lehtinen took part in a call for ideas organised in connection with the city’s Art Axis project, which aimed to bring new art to Rautatienkatu street. Lehtinen’s proposal for a mural featuring two animals in ski suits was one of the winners. The project was co-funded by the Teerenpeli Group, which was celebrating its 25th anniversary at the time, and the idea was developed further with them. The final completed mural depicts two copper whisky stills with ears of barley, symbolising the Teerenpeli Group’s status as the largest whisky distillery in Finland. The work is also a reminder of the long history of beverage production in Lahti.
