Jouko Skinnari Commemorative Relief

Reijo Huttu

2018

Bronze

The commemorative relief of Jouko Skinnari, politician and MP from Lahti, was unveiled on the façade of the Lahti railway station in 2018. During his career in politics, one of Skinnari’s achievements was his contribution to the construction of the direct Lahti railway line, which is why the relief was placed on the wall of the railway station. As a friend and ardent supporter of culture, Skinnari also contributed to the construction of Sibelius Hall in Lahti. The outline of the hall is depicted in the relief behind Skinnari’s likeness. The relief was designed by Lahti-based artist Reijo Huttu. Known for his sense of humour, the counsellor of state is depicted with a gentle smile and as an almost paternal figure, a reminder of Skinnari’s dedication and active work for the good of the people of Lahti.
