Hennala Memorial Park

The former garrison of Hennala is today home to a public memorial park. There are well over a dozen different memorial statues, stones, plaques and other monuments to the military history of the area, including a bust of Marshal Mannerheim. The military canteen stands at the highest point of the park. The Häme Regiment, based in Hennala, was disbanded on 31 December 2014, when the Lahti garrison was discontinued after more than a century of operation. The barracks remain, however, and since then the park around the canteen building has become a heritage site that honours the history of Hennala. Details about the individual monuments can be found on signage in the area.
