Equestrian statue of Mannerheim

Veikko Leppänen

1959

Pronssi

Veikko Leppänen’s statue of C. G. E. Mannerheim depicts the Marshal of Finland riding his horse. Mannerheim served as the regent and president of Finland and commander-in-chief of the country’s armed forces.

The height of the statue is 3.6 metres. The statue itself is made of bronze, the base grey granite. Mannerheim holds a staff in his right hand, and his left hand grasps the reins. To capture a sense of movement, the steed’s left foreleg and right hind leg are raised.

Other war monuments – memorial stones and trees – can be found in the surrounding area.
