Amnesty International Finnish Section is joining the collaboration team of the Lahti International Poster Triennial!
The Lahti International Poster Triennial will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025. To honour the exhibition’s 50th jubilee, the theme of the anniversary category will be ‘freedom of expression’. Although this inherent human right is protected in many countries, free expression still remains under threat in many parts of the world.
The registration for the Poster Triennale is divided into 3 categories:
A Cultural, social and ideological posters
B Environmental posters
C Freedom of expression
Category C entries can be done anonymously. There is no registration fee for entering Category C. Amnesty will help with finding the relevant experts to help the jury go through selected posters of the Freedom of expression category C to ensure the materials are in line with human rights. Amnesty will join the triennial collaboration team that consists of Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva, Grafia, Association of Visual Communication Designers in Finland and The Finnish Friends of Posters Guild.
Director of Amnesty Finland, Frank Johansson, shares his thoughts on the Triennale’s theme: “We are excited to be a partner in the 2025 Lahti Poster Triennial. The theme of the anniversary year, freedom of expression, is always relevant. Freedom of speech is not a given everywhere in the world. It is a constant topic of discussion in Finland and Europe as well. Everyone is needed in the work for human rights. Conveying the message of freedom of expression through visual means is a valuable way to act.”
The registration period has been prolonged, and the registrations stay open until 16th December. The Lahti International Poster Triennale exhibition will be on view June 6–September 7, 2025, at Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva.
