FantAsko! – Furniture Design from Lahti in Posters

The Lahti-based furniture factory Asko is known for its high quality and skilled designers. Asko’s furniture is world-renowned, combining unique style with Finnish practicality.

The emphasis on design at Asko has not been limited to its products for sale; its poster archive also contains many gems of graphic design. The Malva poster collection contains approximately 600 Asko posters from various decades.

Among Asko’s poster artists was Anneli Qveflander, known for her dish and fabric patterns for Arabia and Marimekko, as well as her colorful and imaginative set and costume designs for the Finnish National Opera. Eero Syvänoja’s perhaps most famous work is the label for the original Finlandia vodka bottle designed by Tapio Wirkkala. Eero Aarnio often designed the advertising posters for his own furniture.

In this small exhibition, instead of minimalist cool Scandinavian design, you will see abundant patterns, colors, and joy.

FantAsko! is on display at the Cellar Gallery 6.6.–6.7.2025.
